Runners, meet CrossFit. CrossFit, meet runners.
This summer we introduced a new program at CrossFit Central Downtown — Rogue//CrossFit Strength for Runners Program! This is a six month periodized strength and conditioning program, working directly with Rogue Running, designed specifically for runners.
Goals of the program:
- Prevent injury
- Gain strength
- Set PRs
- Enhance training for specific races
“This program is about building strength and endurance using run-specific lifting techniques and strength cycles. My personal goal in this program is for everyone in the group to PR their race coming in 6 months, I want them to feel stronger in their last 6 miles than they did in their first 6 miles. I want them to be stronger and more efficient in their energy systems and smoke their old splits. There is a difference between being a good runner and being an elite runner, and I want all of my athletes to perform at their highest capacity and discover the true potential of their body!” Coach Davis Collins, Head Coach of the CrossFit Strength for Runners Program.
Davis Collins ran the 100 and 200 meter sprint in High School. After graduation he transitioned to marathon training and took on 3 marathons and 6 half marathons. In 2016 Davis found CrossFit and began adding strength training to his fitness regimen. Davis now loves a good trail run and regularly takes on 10K, 25K and 50K trail runs. Davis is a coach at CrossFit Central Downtown and the head coach of the Rogue//CrossFit Strength for Runners Program.
