2013 Success Story: Karen

Karen_BeforePictureI am over 50 and a self confessed workaholic. I was stressed out with a new job and multiple new responsibilities coupled with a quick move to Austin and with numerous family issues. I internalize stress and my way of dealing with it was two glasses of wine every day after work. Running was at one time my former passion but no longer feasible due to compressed discs in my back. The muffin top around my mid-section was getting bigger; I felt bloated and was tired all of the time but still had difficulty sleeping. I was exhausted mentally and physically, and I needed something more physically challenging than walking my old labs around the block. I had recently transferred to Austin from Houston and was being lazy about finding something to keep me active and engaged plus I had no idea where to start. I had got out of an exercise routine due to my daily 2+ hour commute in Houston. The Austin office offered a workout on my lunch hour at the office so I decided to give it a try.

Since joining our Corporate Wellness Boot Camp, I have a more positive attitude, more energy, and I sleep well. I am more relaxed and seek balance in my life. I made it through personal issues with grace and sensibility and have more professional and personal confidence. The biggest difference I have seen is in my nutrition. Coach Jeremy Thiel introduced our group to the paleo-zone diet. Food logging the first time around was an eye opener. My metabolism is not what it once was, but the combination of diet and exercise are key to maintaining the results I have achieved thus far.[/vc_column_text][mk_image src=”http://crossfitcentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/KarenBio.jpg” image_width=”600″ image_height=”350″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”gray_border” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”center” margin_bottom=”10″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]

Lost 15 lbs, 8 inches, 5% body fat and went down 3 dress sizes!

I used to run marathons but boot camp challenges me physically and mentally on a regular basis in a different way. I look forward to lunch Monday through Thursday and enjoy pushing and exceeding my self-imposed limits.
