Prior to CrossFit Central, I had been CrossFitting for about a year and a half. CrossFit helps me balance out my life between school, work, family, friends, and everything in between. There’s nothing that helps clear your mind like lifting some weights or doing a WOD. I knew that I needed to find a box in Austin that I enjoyed coming to and helped me keep that balance. I looked up several gyms before I moved, but decided I needed to try them out before picking a gym. CrossFit Central was the last gym I tried, and I knew it was the gym I wanted to be at. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the coaches, and the members. Those three things are what made me see that CrossFit Central was where I wanted to be when I was in Austin.

Since joining I have seen improvements in so many different areas. I have hit new PRs, gotten better at some of the different movements and improved my conditioning. However, what’s even better is the people I have met and how they’ve helped me. All of the coaches are great and will help you out whenever you need it, listen to you whenever you need to talk, and the list goes on and on. I have made so many new friends and have found people that push me everyday, not only to be a better athlete, but to be a better person.

Adriana has PR’d her snatch by 15 lbs. (135 to 150) and took her clean and jerk
from 165 lbs. to 185 lbs.

Sometimes you feel “stuck.” Some days you feel like you don’t know what else you could do to possibly master this skill, or to improve that lift, and you feel like you’ve come to a stand still. At CrossFit Central I found coaches who help you get away from that “stuck” point and help you get back that drive to continue to improve. They’ll take the time to give you different drills or exercises to help you continue to make improvements, or sometimes they’ll just talk to you and help you get past that mental block that you’re having. It’s great knowing that you won’t ever feel like you’re at a standstill, and won’t continue to progress as an athlete or as a person.

Working out, overall, just helps me feel better. I find that when I work out I have more energy, I am happier (which all my family and friends probably appreciate), and I also find myself wanting to push and challenge myself in my school work and in my career. Doing CrossFit helps you develop that mental toughness you need to get through a WOD, to push yourself, and to show up and put in the work. I think that translates over to other aspects of your life and has helped me see that I don’t want to settle in anything that I do.
