The Family That Works Out Together

You know how good you feel when you work out, are connected to the community, set goals and crush them, and make healthy lifestyle choices? You know that energetic vibration you feel? What if that consistently radiated through your entire family?

Meet the Brooks family.

If you work out at CrossFit Central Burnet Road, or have attended any of our events or competitions, you've probably seen them. This family of four has been a part of the CrossFit Central community for 7 years. Their daughters have competed in the Iron Belle Girls Division, they take on Hero WODs as a family, and in May Maddison (youngest daughter), raised $540 for our annual Deadlift Off benefiting The Flatwater Foundation . . and she lifted 130#. See what Bobby (Dad) has to say about how fitness and wellness plays a role in their lives.

"Working out together gives us a point of reference. When our daughters encounter adversity or a challenge they think that can’t over come, either of her parents can remind them of a time, in a workout where they were unable to go on, but found the strength to continue anyway.

We talk about everything in our house, we jokingly refer to it as Reality Based Parenting. No question is off limits. This helps us have real conversations about challenges in all aspects of our lives. Facing fears, finding balance, eating healthier foods and the courage to stand out amongst the friends who eat traditional garbage lunches.

Our kids love the idea that they can set goals and make them happen in the gym. From deadlift weights to butterfly pull-ups they have continued to crush their goals. Madison has her heart set on muscle ups now and it’s only a matter of time.

I could gush on and on forever, I’m proud to be their father but they put in the work."
