Top 100 In the Open: It's a Lifestyle

Between Carey Kepler and Lisa Bender Thiel there are twelve years of CrossFit competition experience and 9+ trips to the CrossFit Games. They are powerful women — both Moms to two children, wives and business owners. For both women they truly live the code. They love being fit and healthy and helping others do the same.

As with most people, seasons of life change the course of intention, personal vision and goal setting and for these two women, their goals for the CrossFit Games Open looked a little different this year compared to previous years. Instead of punching their ticket to The CrossFit Games, they took on the Open as another way to challenge themselves inside their daily lives. It's literally just a part of who they are and what they do.

Oh, and did we mention they are both in the top 100 IN THE WORLD in the Open?

Competing, leading, and challenging themselves is at the very fabric of who they are and it shows. They take on a world-wide competition like the CrossFit Games Open and find themselves ranked in the top 100 in week four. So, what is it that they love about the challenge? Scroll down to find out.

Carey Kepler

What do you love about competing?

I compete , first against myself. I’ll always ask myself if I have more push - and really it’s a mindset you choose. I like to push myself which creates competition.

What do you love about challenging yourself?

I like to challenge my body but even more my mind. Turning the inner dialogue to I’ve got this, let’s go, I am strong. The challenge is showing up, lacing up, & finishing what you start!

What do you love about competing?

Because I love it! Competing makes me feel alive. Competition gives me a goal and something to move towards. Competition allows me to test me efforts. God blessed me with an able body and ambitious mind. I believe those talents are in part to inspire others through competition

What do you love about challenging yourself?

Fitness and competing in CrossFit has given me a “safe” platform to challenge myself- make mistakes - learn how to face adversity & reap the reward of hard work. Getting “comfortable” Challenging myself in CrossFit has allowed me to get more comfortable and less fearful of other challenges in life.
