I was just looking for something to help me lose weight. "Fad diets" weren't giving me the results I was hoping for and the big brand gyms made me feel completely lost and out of place. I decided to check out CrossFit Central on a whim. The first class was exhausting and everyone seemed so in the know I felt like I didn't belong at first, but Coach Jess and Nick were the most supportive genuine people I had ever met in a workout setting that I found myself relaxing and actually enjoying the workout. They pushed me that step further when I was afraid to, and we're genuinely happy with me whenever I accomplished something I never thought I could have.
I was never the "athletic" type. In school my Phys Ed. was dance and only because most of my theatre friends took that class. I'd never even picked up a weight before joining CrossFit Central. That lack of exercise coupled with poor eating habits left me physically, emotionally, and mentally drained. I found myself with a very low self image that slowly grew into resentment. I developed a very poor mindset and habits because of it.
Kathryn lost 16.8 lbs.
I think the biggest thing CrossFit has taught me is how to accept myself. I've seen physical changes of course and definitely have more energy than I've ever had, but I think the result that's made the most impact on me is being able to look at myself and feel proud to be me. I'm more forgiving of my flaws than I used to be, and just kinder with my thoughts towards myself than I had been for some time.
I've always been the perfectionist type who never liked doing things if I couldn't do them well. CrossFit has helped me learn to step outside my comfort zone and push myself to do things I never thought I could. I find myself setting goals and challenges with a more go for it mentality on things where in the past I never would have even made the attempt.
I find I am more active in all parts of my life. I feel happier in general which I think has translated into a more positive energy in my life overall. I'm more social than I used to be, and more engaged in taking on new challenges and trying new things.

”I have noticed a gigantic gain in Kathryn self confidence! When she first joined the gym she was very timid and shy. She would also lift in the back of the class and was a little timid to lift weight. Now she has found strength within herself and her confidence is booming! She is always smiling when she lifts and it has been awesome watching her transformation over the past year!”
