When did you initially join CrossFit Central and what drew you to CrossFit Central?

I joined when I moved back here from Brooklyn. I was already sold on CrossFit, I just needed a new gym that had good programming. I was really happy in New York and already attending a CrossFit gym. I was really very sad to move back to Austin but because of family it was something I needed to do. I consider regular exercise to be paramount to my mental health so I knew that it was imperative to find a new gym. Physically I was feeling strong but because my mental state was flux I was probably less focused than I am currently.

What results have you seen over the last year?

Wow. This last year has been a slap in the face but because I had working out as an outlet I think I was able to gain some strength and tone (more specifically my arms). I have more confidence and feel empowered. I have always thought women should be strong, that is part of my feminist agenda.

This year has been challenging to say the least, did the community or your workouts help you in any way during the pandemic?

I got a divorce and was all alone. Although I keep to myself several members checked in on me periodically. I am naturally a loner but the members at this gym seem to have an appreciation and respect for one another that admittedly is nice even to my stale, black, heart.

What keeps you coming back to CrossFit Central?

The challenges and the high you receive from accessing parts of yourself that for me can only be achieved with a competitive high intensity workout program.
