I joined CrossFit Central in February 2019 and today I ask myself why I didn’t do so sooner. Initially, I was skeptical of CrossFit, mainly because I had no interest in “fitness class” workouts; but truly I was uneducated about what it actually is. Growing up I was a multi-sport athlete, with a competitive nature and a natural draw to physical activities, sports, and challenges. Post competitive sports, I fell into the same gym routine of traditional body building movements, cardio training, and the workouts I was taught in college. My routine was inconsistent, my eating habits weren’t the best, and I carried a lot of stress as I struggled to balance work and life, as well as being a husband and father.
I heard about CrossFit Central from another father in my neighborhood, so I figured I’d try a class — I haven’t looked back since. The atmosphere, energy, and support you receive from the coaches and community at CrossFit Central is second to none. With the variety of classes, programs, movements, and modifications, there really is something for everyone regardless of age or fitness level.
Initially, I participated in Lisa’s 28-day body lean program where I learned how to establish and maintain a balanced nutritional plan based on my macros and overall awareness of my body, what it needs, and how it responds. In less than a single month, I lost 7.1 lbs of fat, going from 14.8% body fat to 11%, while gaining 2.6 lbs of muscle. I couldn’t be happier about my results, especially in such a short amount of time.
My evolution into CrossFit has helped me maintain a healthy, functional lifestyle of safe, effective exercise coupled with sound nutrition. I’ve run my fastest mile, increased my mobility and flexibility, and surpassed my previous strength goals, all thanks to CrossFit. It's my outlet, a stress reliever if you will; it's my way to disconnect and enhance mind clarity, which also helps me sleep better. I never thought I would crave muscle soreness or exhaustion from a solid WOD, but it keeps me coming back. Thank you, CrossFit Central, for creating an encouraging community culture that allows us all to perform at our best.
