I joined CrossFit Central in July 2017. My family had been encouraging me to start CrossFit for some time. That year for my birthday, my brother gifted me a month of CrossFit and picked CrossFit Central for me. I immediately knew this was the gym for me. I've now been a member for over 4 years.

I've always been a very active person, but never really focused on living a wholly healthy lifestyle. I found myself in and out of "diet" phases. I started and stopped different workout routines, different sports. I eventually had a minor back injury that limited my movement and discouraged me. The community at CrossFit Central helped me refocus, work on regaining strength, and now I am more active than I have ever been.

There are things that I never thought I'd be able to do, like handstand pushups, pullups, rope climbs. There are things I didn't expect to enjoy, like barbell movements, jumping over objects. But the community has helped me shift my priorities to health and wellness. I've lost weight, I've gained muscle mass, but the biggest change is emotional. I'm almost always in a good mood. I handle stressful situations with more poise and precision. I sleep better. My relationships with friends and family are better. Those results are much more valuable to me.

What keeps me coming back? Gym dogs. Jeremy and Carey are pretty great too.

My company hasn't returned to the office since March 2020. I've been working from home for almost two years. Having a gym to go to, that is also a strong community, has been so important to me. Just being able to walk away from the stressful real world helps me reset every day. The world is continuing to change, so it's important for me to have something that feels stable and constant, and this gym has been that for me.
