Believe – It’s a Powerful Tool

Team CrossFit Central is going to the ‘ship’.

The championship, that is—the CrossFit Games.

If you are unfamiliar with that really means, the CrossFit Games represent the Olympics of our sport.

Our team of six incredible athletes trained, sacrificed and gave it their all this past year to be the number one team standing on the podium at the South Central Regional this past month, all with one word on their minds: Believe.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to CrossFit Central’s theme of the year: Believe.

Believe in yourself, your capabilities, your worth. Believe your goals, hopes and dreams will happen.

As cliché as it may sound, believing is the FIRST and foremost crucial step in achieving and succeeding.

From a personal PR, to a job promotion, weight loss or weight gain, making a change, starting something new, accepting yourself for who you are, and more—without belief that you can and will achieve whatever it is.

Team CrossFit Central can certainly attest to this.

After a fourth place finish at the Regional last year, our affiliate determined, without a doubt, we were going to have a team on that podium the following year.

Coach Michael Winchester (coach of our GGRX programming) decided to take a step back from competing in order to make that goal a reality.

This past year, Lisa Thiel, Ingrid Kantola, Chelsea McKinney, Jeremy Kampen, Jeff Vanlandingham, and Brandon Mayernik, committed to being the driving forces to the Games.

Hands down, the soul-wrenching belief that they would be the team standing on the podium at Regionals is what they would say separated them from the 29 other teams on the floor.

We often tap into that ‘mental toughness’ of belief in CrossFit.

If you’ve been with us for more than a workout or two, you know exactly what we are talking about.

Think about a workout like Fran, for instance:

21-15-9

Thrusters (95/65)

Pull-ups

The first time you saw that rep scheme on a whiteboard, your mind probably thought ‘eh, not all too bad.’

However, the first time you did Fran?

Different story.

Flat on your back, gasping for air, wondering what just hit you?

Sounds more like it.

While Fran is one of those ‘Girls’ we all love to hate in CrossFit, have you ever approached a workout, like Fran, with a mindset to attack and conquer the workout, instead of thinking, or believing, it would conquer you?

If not, I’d challenge you to try it when your mindset is set on going unbroken on those sets of 21-15-9 thrusters, and only coming off the bar when you feel the failure on the next pull-up coming on, only to jump right back up to attack it again.

The reason I write this?

The mind is a powerful tool.

And more often than not, what we believe and tell our minds we can—and will do—we can and will achieve.

So we’d like to extend an invitation to you, on the brink of CrossFit Central’s launch to the CrossFit Games on July 25th, will you partner with us and believe?

Believe the double-C’s are not only going to compete at the Games—but they are going to stand on the podium?

Believe you come from one of the best affiliates in the world, because YOU are a part of it—a great, awesome community.

Believe that whatever it is you are working towards, aspiring for, longing to do or change, that you WILL do it.

Believe in the ‘impossible’ and ‘improbable.’

The more POSITIVE thoughts you can fill your mind with…the more your beliefs begin to become reality.
